Well I lost my hard drive on my Mac recently and I lost 3-4 years of pictures. I know, I know, I should have had a backup. I am a system engineer and do this “computer stuff” every day and know what I should have had. Needless to say I am/was devastated. I just got my Mac rebuilt so I did not take many pictures this past weekend.
I’d also like to thank all of the parents that try to include our family into all of the team activities. I am not an outgoing kind of guy and I am afraid that has rubbed off on Ethan some. (Amy has no excuse 🙂 )
With summer here and no soccer for a bit we are going to use all of this time to get Ethan’s back healed and stronger. With his rapid growth it is impossible for him to keep up muscularly . He is taller than me now and I am 6’5″.
WHAT A HOT DAY!! Light on the pictures due to playing nurse to Ethan’s hurt back. The boys looked good again today with their one touch passes and ability to finish in the 2nd half.
Well I’m getting tired of this cold weather stuff. Yesterday it’s 80 degrees today it feels like its about to snow. The boys found their groove today after a while and started having fun. I think they do so much better when they are enjoying the game.

Good game today and great weather. I thought we would have scored about 14 more goals when we were up two players but we had a slow start. Great job for both goalies for having a clean sheet.
Of course we were hoping Ethan would connect with the back of the net and get a goal but that was not for today.
Let me repeat what I said from our tournament – “What is there to say but it was COLD, windy, and all around miserable and all us parents were doing were sitting on the side line. Imagine what it must have been like for the boys.”

It was a “good” tournament if for nothing else it got the boys back outside and getting used to one another.
My pictures seem to drop off the colder I get or the more frustrated I get.

This picture is not game related but it just makes me happy to see them together.
I am a huge fan of the movie 300 and our boy’s last game reminded me of the scene as the ships smashed into the shores and the Arcadian thought maybe the war was already won:
Daxos: I saw those ships smashed on the rocks. How can this be?
Stelios: We saw but a fraction of the monster that is Xerxes’ army. Daxos: There can be no victory here… why do you smile?
Stelios: Arcadian, I’ve fought countless times, yet I’ve never met an adversary who could offer me what we Spartans call “A Beautiful Death.” I can only hope, with all the world’s warriors gathered against us, there might be one down there who’s up to the task.
Our boys did not face a team that could offer them a challenge until the last game, and they lost. There should be NO shame in that loss at all. They fought beautifully through that game and gave everything they had. It was great, to me, to see them fight so hard for something they truly wanted.
Great job boys!!!!! Amy and I had a great weekend too, it was nice to meet and talk with all of you and thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Game 3 – Amy and I were sitting amongst the opposing team’s parents and there was a gentleman there watching them (a coach from a younger team) he had no idea who we were there for. EVERY word out of his mouth about the Eagles was a compliment he said to his friend. “Wow, you do not see this kind of passing from a team this age, they just did 2 one touch balls off of a header and played into open space going for goal. That is amazing.” It went on from there. He did learn we were for the Eagles once he realized my camera kept snapping pictures of Ethan every time the ball came near. That did NOT stop his positive remarks.
This was a very physical soccer game on both sides. Our boys are growing up and the game becomes not just about skill, but about strength. Today was one of those days. The other team was big and not afraid to move us off the ball. Ethan had a great game, only letting one by, which was a great shot that he lost sight of.

This is the CSA team I remember from last year. Putting clean passes together, taking shots on goal, finishing a LOT of those shots. Ethan had a clean sheet the first half and went out due to dizziness in the second half. (REALLY sick when we got home, not pretty)

The boys looked much better today. Once that first goal came the confidence soared and the rest is history. Ethan came away with a clean sheet (we love those!!!) Great Job.
